This is the most common question I get when people are starting a new website or affiliate program. Having a great website or affiliate program is great but even the best of websites can not be successful if you do not have traffic going to them

Now there are many ways to get website traffic. Most of them consist of paying for visitors either through Pay Per Click ad campaigns or Pay Per Impression ad campaigns. Though many times when people are just starting out they do either not have the capitol to pay for these kind of traffic generating campaigns or even if you do have the capitol it may not be the best and defiantly not the only way you will want to gain traffic.

The 2 most effective free traffic generators that I will recommend to people that are just starting out are

1) Writing articles Such as this one

2) Using Link Exchanges

Now the first example that I have listed here is fairly obvious since you are reading this article. What you need to do is find something that you are an expert on and then write an article about that subject. Then through the article being posted, shared, and ready you will receive traffic to the link that you have posted in the by line. I have done just this thing in writing this article for you.

The second way that I have listed is through Link Exchanges. Link exchanges are websites where you can create an account listing your website links that you would like to gain traffic to. Such websites are the following:

I love hits
Traffic Splash
Dragon Surf

Once you join these sites you add the links to your pages or websites that you want to get traffic to. You can either buy traffic or click for traffic. When you buy traffic it is generally very cheap and well worth it, but to keep it free as most people do with these exchanges is they surf for traffic. When you go to the surf feature you will see that you will have somebody else's website come up in the screen. You will then have to stay on that website for the pre-determined length of time. Once you have stayed there for the amount of time required it will have a little capcha type thing at the top of the screen to make sure your not a bot. Sometimes it is a picture that you have to match or letters you have to type

Once you do this it will go on to the next website. Every time you go through a website this way you will earn a credit, which you can apply to your websites to pay for traffic going to them.

My advice to this is to surf multiple sites at once. So I recommend joining all the sites listed above using the links and then once you have accounts setup on all of them open the surf feature for each of them in a new tab. Then you can lick through the tabs and click on the second and third one while you wait for the first.
